Checking Your E-mail Settings

The following applies only to our dial-up subscribers.



Outlook Express (Windows) top of page
  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on the 'Tools' menu and choose 'Accounts.'
  3. Click on the 'Mail' tab, then highlight your ZWISP.net account below.
  4. Click the Properties button.
  5. Click on the 'Servers' tab and check that the entries are as follows:
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP):   mail.ZWISP.net
    Incoming Mail (POP3):  mail.ZWISP.net
    Account Name:  your ZWISP.net username
     
  6. If your entries are different, please replace them with those shown above.
  7. Click OK
  8. Click Close.

Note: If you have your password saved you will be asked to re-enter it the next time you check mail.


Netscape 7.x (Windows) top of page
  1. Open Netscape.
  2. Click on the "Window" menu and select "Mail & Newsgroups"
  3. In the new window that opens up, click on the "Edit" menu and select "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings"
  4. Highlight "Server Settings" on the left-hand side.
  5. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net
    User Name:   your ZWISP.net username
  6. Highlight "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" on the left-hand side.
  7. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net
    Use name and password:   should be unchecked
  8. Click "OK"

Mozilla Thunderbird (Windows) top of page
  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Account Settings"
  3. Highlight "Server Settings" on the left-hand side
  4. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net
    User Name:   your ZWISP.net username
  5. Highlight "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" on the left-hand side.
  6. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net.
    Use name and password:   should be unchecked
  7. Click "OK"

Mac Mail (Macintosh) top of page
  1. Open Mail.
  2. Click on the "Mail" menu and select "Preferences".
  3. Click on "Edit".
  4. Make sure that the following settings are correct:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net.
    Account Type:    POP Account
    Description:    leave blank
    Email Address:    username@ZWISP.net
    Full Name:    Your Name
    Host name:    mail.ZWISP.net
    User name:    Your ZWISP.net Username
    Password:    Your ZWISP.net Password
    SMTP Host:    mail.ZWISP.net

    Leave the option "Use authentication when sending mail" unchecked.
  5. Click "OK"
  6. Close the Mail Preferences window

Netscape Messenger 4.x (Windows) top of page
  1. Open Netscape Messenger.
  2. Click on the 'Edit' menu and choose 'Preferences.'
  3. On the left will be a list of catagories. Double click on 'Mail and Newsgroups' to display the sub-catagories.
  4. Click on the 'Mail Servers' sub-catagory so that it's highlighted.
  5. In the middle of this section will be a space labled 'Outgoing Mail Server.' Make sure that the entries are as follows:
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server:   mail.ZWISP.net.
    Outgoing Mail Server Username:   empty
  6. If your entries are different, please replace them with those shown above.
  7. Click on 'Edit' at the top right.
  8. Make sure your mail server settings are as follows:
    Server Name:   mail.ZWISP.net
    Server Type:   POP3
    Username:   Your ZWISP.net username
  9. If your entries are different, please replace them with those shown above.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click OK again.

Note: If you have your password saved you will be asked to re-enter it the next time you check mail.


Outlook Express (Macintosh) top of page
  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on the 'Tools' menu and choose 'Accounts.'
  3. Click on the 'Mail' tab, then highlight your ZWISP.net account below.
  4. Click on 'Edit'.
  5. Click on the 'Account Settings' tab and check that the entries are as follows:
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP):   mail.ZWISP.net
    Incoming Mail (POP3):   mail.ZWISP.net

    DSL Customers(SMTP) dslmail.zwisp.net
    Account Name:   your ZWISP.net username

  6. If your entries are different, please replace them with those shown above.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click 'Close'.
  9. Restart Outlook Express.
